I have the pleasure of being one of Cathy’s students, I love her teaching methods and her gentle approach, and she is always supportive and sharing of her knowledge. Her classes are fun and relaxing.”

I have enjoyed Cathy’s classes a lot – Cathy taught us the key elements of watercolour through several fun exercises, with plenty of individual help. From the first class, I came away with enough skills and understanding of watercolour to keep going at home, and this has led to what will be a lifelong passion.

Cathy is an accomplished and experienced watercolour artist, and I’ve learnt so much about the medium, the tools, and the methods in a really friendly and supportive environment. I had a lot of fun, and have come away with a new appreciation and understanding of how to move forward with my own painting with this fabulous and versatile medium. I highly recommend Cathy’s workshops!

Cathy has the ability to translate why an image “works” and one that doesn’t. To give you the confidence to play with watercolour and produce a piece that you can be proud of. She has opened up a whole new world to me by viewing the light and reflections. Cloud gazing takes on a whole new dimension. Thank you for your generosity Cathy.

As a novice art student I attended a series of classes run by Cathy as an introduction to using watercolours. Cathy’s warm and supportive manner made the classes very enjoyable and relaxed for everyone. She provided expert tuition on painting techniques, advice on materials and also offered follow-up assistance if required. I recommend Cathy’s art lessons to anyone wanting instruction or support with their art practice.

I have been participating in the Wednesday art group for about 4 months and I have found Cathy an inspiration. She is so talented and a great teacher.  Cathy is good at picking up where my strengths are and also helping me when I need assistance (which is quite often)!  Look forward to learning a lot more with Cathy.

Cathy Donovan is a very pleasant, generous, patient and innovative teacher.  Cathy is an amazing Painter and her encouragement for you to achieve is second to none.

My partner and I,  total novices at painting,  attended a water colour workshop held by Cathy Donovan. Cathy is a patient and inspirational teacher. She is generous with her time and knowledge. Apart from introducing us to the techniques of water colour painting, the knowledge she imparted also made subsequent gallery visits so much more fullfilling. I’d definitely recommend Cathy to novice and not so novice artists.

I’d always loved watercolours but had awful results until I was instructed in the ‘tricks of the trade’ by Cathy. I joined her class late in ’17.  The improvement was rapid.   I was delighted to learn the technique of both clear subtle shades & glowing transparent colours from Cathy.  I love her style.  There’s something languid & unfussy in much of her work.  I think appreciating a teacher’s style makes for more confidence in learning.  In the last 18 months, I’ve been getting a number of small commissions which is an ego boost.  Cathy is generous with her time, her materials & her soft encouraging approach with all levels.

I hadn’t tried painting since my schooldays but with Cathy’s expertise, patience, straight forward instructions and great examples I managed to produce a water colour painting that I was quite proud of. Thanks very much for the encouragement.
